Ugly Sweater Day

IMG-1481

National Ugly Sweater Day was December 16. Our team could not resist an opportunity to try and out ugly your team’s sweater.

Everyone was toasty and warm on a mid-December day, maybe too warm since it reached 75 degrees in Round Rock. However, you couldn’t miss our employees as they sported sweaters with FSG Smart Buildings logos and brand colors while working and performing tasks around town.

National Ugly Sweater Day is the third Friday of December every year and is a chance for people across the U.S. to allow their tackiest, most hideous Christmas seater to shine. First made popular by TV performers in the 1950s, the trend fell out of style in the late 60s and early 70s but popped back up again in the 80s in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It wasn’t until 2012 that ugly sweaters got their own day after a group in Vancouver, Canada, created an annual event to raise funds for charity and cancer awareness. Ugly Sweater Day is now celebrated across north america annually.

Before you ask, yes, there are some rules to a proper ugly sweater:

  1. Buy an ugly Christmas sweater. (In some cases, it can be acceptable to create your own “ugly sweater”)
  2. Wear your sweater for the entire day.
  3. Share the day with your friends.
